JVB Collaborative is an education-focused consulting partnership that supports schools, universities, and community organizations through leadership development, program design, and research-informed improvement. Our team brings together experienced educators, researchers, and community leaders who value participant voice, thoughtful inquiry, and practical implementation. We work collaboratively with partners to strengthen learning environments, build leadership capacity, and develop systems that support meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

  • Co-Founder

    Dr. Brett Ashmun has spent the past eleven years teaching in higher education and currently serves as the Director of the Great Valley Writing Project. His work has been published in numerous literary magazines, anthologies, educational journals, and online platforms. He holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership, where his dissertation focused on self-authorship as conceptualized by Marcia Baxter Magolda.

    Discovering his own potential was a pivotal moment in his life, and he now finds deep fulfillment in helping others uncover theirs.

    Dr. Virginia Montero Hernandez is an educational leader, scholar, and imaginative thinker. Her life approach is created by the need to remember and re-imagine an identity constructed in two nations: Mexico and the United States. Virginia’s family story and country of origin are a source of inspiration to create a fulfilled and resilient being. Virginia is passionate about understanding the capacity of the human spirit to redefine itself and she enjoys working with others to design their lives and spaces in more creative ways.

    John Torres builds strong relationships with community partners and participants to ensure meaningful engagement and collaboration. He oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of the LLI program by supporting cohort members' growth and leadership development. His role combines strategic management with hands-on support to create impactful learning and networking experience within the program as well as in our community.
